AU: Milliways (PotC!Trudy, DW!Thirteen)

It's been a Day.

(she's had a lot of them lately)

And she misses flying.

(not much she can do 'bout that, although she's pretty sure Tia Dalma could turn her into an eagle if she really felt like it)

(Quaritch had an eagle tattooed on his arm)

(she doesn't want to be an eagle)

Not much she can do about either of them, though, except maybe get drunk. Yeah, she likes the idea of that.

(she's dressed to fit the times, although not exactly proper society. Ladies don't run around in breeches and loose shirts and knee-high boots and coats that go swish.

She's okay with not being a lady)

"Quaritch ordered the destruction of Hometree, Remy. I...I didn't. I refused. And they were gonna pack me off to Earth, and...I couldn't sit around and do nothing."

That tears it. This time, Thirteen tugs lightly at the woman's hands.

"Wouldn't be you if you did," she murmurs softly. "C'mere, Hobbes."

She's missed being hugged, so she stands and not quite stumbles into Remy's arms.

Remy isn't Norm, but Remy is her friend and here, at least, is someone she trusts to cling to.

As soon as she's able, Thirteen wraps her arms around the much smaller woman, unceremoniously tugging Trudy into her lap while she hugs her and is clung to.

"That's it, it's alright, I got you."

"Thank you," she says, taking a deep breath.

[numbered_doctor]

"Anytime," she murmurs, giving her another squeeze. "Least I can do."

"I'm okay. Really."

[numbered_doctor]

The concern is clear as Thirteen runs a hand gently over her back.

"Y'sure?"

"Yep."

[numbered_doctor]

She nods, though she makes no move to release her just yet.

"Alright. Good."

[hallelujahpilot]

"Don't believe me?"

[numbered_doctor]

She laughs.

"Chalk it up to learning from past examples."

[hallelujahpilot]

"Trust me, I know when I'm fragile. Past experience."

[numbered_doctor]

"Alright," she responds, grinning a little. "I believe you."

[hallelujahpilot]

"You'd better."

[numbered_doctor]

Laughing again, she leans to press a sloppy smooch to the smaller woman's cheek.

"Yes ma'am!"
